INTRODUCTION TO INVESTING WORKSHOP

Sunday 25 July from 1 to 4.30pm

Speaker: Jamie Nemtsas, Partner & Senior Adviser, Lachlan Partners

This workshop is designed for investors with little or no experience, as well as a refresher for those seeking one. It is intended to equip investors with the basic information necessary to prepare for the conference sessions that follow. You do not need to be a conference delegate to attend this workshop. The topics addressed will include:

  • Asset classes – investment types, performance over the years, ways of investing in them (introductory).
  • Investing in shares:  direct - ASX, sectors, brokers/DIY on-line, how to identify stocks to invest in, risk v return.
  • Investing in shares:  managed funds – types, managers, costs, international, risk v return.
  • Investing in property: direct or managed investments, types, performance, costs, risk v return.
  • Investing in fixed interest: direct or managed funds, types, performance, risk v return.
  • Portfolio construction: asset allocation principles, risk v return.
  • Sources of information for investors: ASX, fund managers, magazines, newspapers, websites, advisers, AIA.

Attendance to this Introduction to investing workshop is not included in the conference registration and AIA members and their partners will pay $45pp to attend. Non-members pay an additional $50 for a three month subscription to the AIA. You do not have to be a conference delegate to attend this workshop. Registration includes refreshments and workshop papers.  

INTRODUCTION TO TECHNICAL ANALYSIS WORKSHOP

Sunday 25 July from 1 to 4.30pm

Speaker: Neil Godwin, Private trader and personal trading mentor

This workshop is designed for investors with limited experience of technical analysis. It is intended to equip investors for the in-depth technical analysis sessions that follow during the conference. You do not need to be a conference delegate to attend this workshop. The topics addressed will include:

  • Why use technical analysis
  • Different types of charts
  • Classical chart analysis
  • Chart patterns
  • An introduction to indicators
  • Software and data (including free charting software e.g. Incredible Charts).
