Another
excellent book by Forde and Beelaerts, who are clearly experts in their
field with many years of experience. The authors have condensed a massive
subject of buying shares into a logical, readable, and informative book.
It is a convenient reference guide for the experienced investor and
equally a step by step introduction for the novice.
There are 10 chapters in the book which
walk investors through progressive stages, covering stockmarket investing,
share prices, buying srategies, financial ratios, buying shares, public
offerings, high risk shares, portfolios, technical, and your own research.
An invaluable "Key Points" summary is provided at the end
of each chapter which provide a convenient ready reference.
A discussion on "Planning for a
Loss" is included, clearly an important component in any investors
risk strategy,
In another part of the book, the madness
of crowds is explained. An excellent example is the"dot.com"
crash. As an individual investor you are ideally placed to stand outside
the crowd making decisions.
For the technically minded, the book
explains the CBLA (Countback Line Approach) technique when using technical
analysis for share buying decisions.
In the 'Buying Shares' section, a couple
of analysis techniques for the fundamentalists, not always covered well
in other texts, are clearly explained by the writers. For example GARP(Growth
at a Reasonable Price using the PEG (Price Earnings Growth Ratio) and
present value - finding a shares intrinsic value.
There are many more jewels in the book
full of tips and strategies.
