Planning for the Australian Investors Association's annual conference is back in full swing, with over 40 presentations over four days.

The AIA Annual Conference 2022, with the theme “Riding the Wave of Megatrends”, will be held at the Marriott Hotel, Surfers Paradise, from 27-30 March. Register now if you haven't already, as the early bird discount ends on Monday, November 29.

Keynote speakers for the conference, with the theme Riding the Wave of Mega Trends - Investing for the Future, include futurist Shara Evans, renowned economist Saul Eslake, global economics expert Jonathan Pain and venture capitalist and entrepreneur Mark Carnegie. These leading experts will share unique market insights and exclusive investment ideas and opportunities for the coming years and the next decade.

With 40 presentations over four days, there is something for everyone – from beginners to experts. Check out the program online or click to download the program session summary. Below are the highlights:

Shara Evans, Technology Futurist
Founder and CEO, Market Clarity

We live in a world driven by technological innovation and disruption, where global industries transform as we head towards Net Zero Emissions. What does this near future look like?

Shara will immerse us in this future, outlining the changes in our daily lives, workplaces and how we consume and interact with products and services. She will describe technological changes and future global trends.

Will this be a world where robotics and AI replace workers? Will post pandemic thinking lead to major changes on factory floor and global supply chains? By looking forward and understanding the future we can position our portfolios to take advantage of these megatrends and not be left behind.

Saul Eslake, Independent Economist,
Corinna Economic Advisory

Will the growth driven by recent stimulus in Australia and the US sustain those economies and how will the rapid technological changes and geopolitical tensions play out through the decade?

Australia's leading independent economist Saul Eslake will take us through this compelling journey.

Jonathan Pain, Director, The Pain Report
(JP Consulting)

Perhaps the most significant and defining geopolitical phenomenon of our generation is the growing divide between America and China and that Taiwan sits in the crosshairs of that complicated relationship.

All of this begs the question as to how Australia will navigate through this new geopolitical reality? Jonathan will provide an investment and geopolitical roadmap of where the world is heading in the years ahead.

Mark Carnegie, Founding Partner,
M.H. Carnegie & Co.

This compelling Plenary will outline the many accelerating technological changes overwhelming our lives and lifestyles. Learn about the new opportunities in Cloud computing/cyber security Robotics & Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain, Crypto, Fintech and more.

The above sessions will take place within the event's four themes:

Lucy PercyFive variations to a testamentary trust for you to consider

Testamentary trusts are important to consider in estate planning. They can only be created by being included in a Will prior to death (it’s either in there or not, there are no second chances to add it in later).

Last year the AIA worked with lawyer, Lucy Percy of Head & Heart Estate Planning who delivered a series of articles and a webinar on estate planning and testamentary trusts which was exclusive to members.

Subscribe to our newsletter now and find out the five variations to a testamentary trust Percy suggested that you might like to consider.
